Another great day for the 11th Annual Saint John Dragon Boat Festival
On Saturday, August 29th, close to 1000 participants competed in the 11th Annual Saint John Dragon Boat Festival
presented by the Telegraph Journal. Festival Chair Mary Dever announced at the closing ceremonies that this year’s
fundraising total currently sits at $215,000 and still counting! “We are very close to our goal of $250,000” said an
emotional Dever “I’m deeply touched by the outstanding support we continue to receive each year from our community
and I have no doubt we will reach our goal within the upcoming weeks”. Top three fundraising teams this year were
St. Joseph’s Hospital Geriatric Medicine Healthy Aging Warriors, Bayview Credit Union Super Squad and the Circle K Lanterns.
This year’s final race results had CBCL Extinguishers, winning the Section A - Telegraph Journal Trophy.
Canaport LNG Flash Freeze took the Section B – Town of Rothesay Trophy and
Deloitte JuggOARnauts captured Section C - NB Southern Railway Trophy.
The winner of the Tim Hortons Team Spirit Award went to first time participants, Tutu Ninjas from Oromocto.
After thanking the sponsors, participants and donors, St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation’s Executive Director, Laurie Flood
announced the date for next year’s Festival, “We are always very thankful for the enthusiasm the community shows for
this exciting event and are looking forward to returning to the beautiful Kennebecasis River for the 12th Annual Saint John
Dragon Boat Festival on August 27th, 2016.” Teams interested in participating in the Saint John Dragon Boat Festival next
