Entertainment Schedule 2016 Coming Soon
The official Opening Ceremonies will begin with the traditional Awakening of the Dragon Eye Dotting Ceremony. This tradition is performed each year and is said to bring out the dragon's fire which gives the boats and their crews the strength of the dragon and protects them during battle.
Breast Cancer Survivor Ceremony
The Pink Carnations Ceremony takes place directly following the Breast Cancer Survivors Challenge Cup. Survivor teams raft together; each paddler raises a pink carnation above their head and holds the hand of a fellow paddler in the next boat. With flowers raised, the poem We Remember You is read and the paddlers toss the pink flowers on the water, both to celebrate survival, and to remember those who did not survive.
Chinese Cultural Dance Performance
The Chinese Cultural Association of Saint John performs beautiful Chinese ethnic dances & music. This includes the Dragon & Lion Dance

Lions express joy and happiness. In the Chinese New Year, lion dance groups tour from village to village in China. The Lion Dance also plays an important role in all kinds of celebrations, and religious rites.
Chinese Dragon Dance
Both the Chinese Lion and Dragon Dance have their origins back in ancient China. Both lions and dragons figure in New Year’s Parades and other celebrations throughout the year. The Dragon Dance was initially performed to stop the spread of epidemics and then evolved into a folk activity.

Men of Fundy
This all male barbershop chorus has been sharing the art of four-part harmony singing, along with their enthusiastic passion for music, with the people of Saint John for more than 40 years.
One of the most exceptional events took place in 1990, when the chorus was invited to Amsterdam, to represent the city for the 45th anniversary of the liberation of Holland by Canadian forces.
In addition to promoting the art of barbershop singing, and music in general, the Men of Fundy have long maintained an interest in charitable works, including the purchase of hearing-aids for children, whose families might otherwise be unable to afford them.
A new addition to the Saint John music scene, Beggars Ransom was formed in January 2010.
Member of the group include Ashley Lynn Peters on Vocals, Chris Roberts - Guitar, Jay Hume – Drums and Andrew Morris – Bass. This great new band will have you up on your feet and moving to everything from golden oldies to the modern greats.
